Funny thing how we have ideas of what will interest our kids, and then they can just totally surprise you with what draws their attention. I knew they would find the old guns from the Second World War in France interesting, but I wasn’t expecting them to enjoy the Louvre with its long lines and thousands of paintings and sculptures. I also wasn’t expecting the highlight of one of our days in Prague to be the 45 minutes we spent at a little park (that was really designed for 2-7 year olds), or the highlight of our day it Vimy Ridge being an hour long discussion with the Director (BTW, thanks John). These are the surprises that keep things interesting when you are a group of four spending all day, every day, together.

That said, I can honestly say that I am shocked that one of their favourite things in the first two months on the road was playing with pigeons in the old town square in Krakow, Poland. If I would have known how easy it would be to pass an hour playing with pigeons I would have used this back home on PEI.

We caught some video on our phones and put it together in a bit of a montage. This is more of a home video, but really amusing for us. And, thinking about it now, on the one hand, I wanted to kick some of the pigeons that were swarming us (although I knew Eve would have disowned me as a father), and on the other hand I couldn’t help but jump right in and feed them myself. Julie managed to maintain a healthy distance despite my attempts to encourage the pigeons to swarm her by throwing seeds at her feet. : )

The highlight of the video for us comes near the end. We put in a ‘replay’ so all our family and friends back home can truly enjoy it.

Hope you like this home video!!
